Biography

Laurențiu Ganea is a composer born in Ploiești, Romania.
The gates to the realm of culture and education were open, firstly, by his parents at home. His mother, Gabriela (1927-2015), graduated Philology-Romanic Languages (French, Italian, Romanian) and his father, Nicolae (1927-2022), graduated History and Philology.
Laurențiu graduated Music Theory Faculty in Bucharest (1992-1997), National Music University - composition class (1996-2001), master on Anthropology of sacred space (National Architecture University "Ion Mincu" - 2002-2004), post master program on Conservation of World Cultural Heritage (Israel, 2013) and several other courses or masterclasses; he is member of Romanian Composer's Union UCMR symphonic department and he lectured, participated or was member in international festivals and juries, was invited or hosted cultural tv broadcastings, published articles on cultural topics at renowned universities etc.
Laurențiu taught art/cultural courses in Romania and abroad and he is member of several important cultural institutions.
As a performer, he played in chamber ensembles (with flute, violin, guitar, strings quartet etc) or as soloist with orchestra in Romania and abroad.
Since first edition - 1997, Laurențiu was artistic director of International Classical Guitar Festival Bucharest-Cotroceni, organized by Aurel Mitran's Foundation, co-operating with several embassies or cultural institutes and with some of most brilliant performers worldwide from all continents.
Adding to musical compositions, he wrote few poems and other texts.
Laurențiu Ganea was awarded with 'Andrei Mureșanu' Order and other high honorary distinctions (from Scotland, the most important one) for his cultural merits.
